Yola court remands man for allegedly beating nephew to de@th over theft of herbicides

A 49-year-old man, Hamman Saidu, has been remanded for allegedly beating his nephew to de@th over theft of herbicides. 

The Chief Magistrate Court 2 Yola, Adamawa State, ordered the remand of Saidu for k!lling his nephew, identified as Mark Bibulyi, after neighbours accused him of theft. 

Both Saidu and Bibulyi are of of Pella Ward in Hong Local Government Area. 

Magistrate Dorcas Mavah, who presided over the case, remanded Saidu and adjourned the case to the 24th June, 2026, to enable the prosecution transmit the case diary to the state Department of Public Prosecution (DPA) for legal advice. 

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezra Bulus, who arraigned the defendant, had earlier told the court that the deceased, according to witness accounts, went into the residence of the defendant on June 2, and took some packs of herbicides.

 

The prosecutor said the deceased was held by neigbours who informed the defendant about the incident. 

He added that upon his arrival, the defendant hit the deceased with a stick, inflicting a fat@l head injury. 

The defendant pleaded guilty and was detained.
