Yoruba group hails Oyebanji’s Ekiti poll victory

A pro-Yoruba group, the Yoruba Leaders of Thought, has described the victory of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State as historic and an affirmation of his excellent performance in his first term.
The group, which said that Oyebanji’s victory “is a confirmation of the confidence the people of Ekiti State have in his government”, urged him to surpass his present achievements in his second term.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday, declared Oyebanji, who was APC candidate, winner of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election having polled 319,224 votes to defeat other contenders for the state highest seat
The YLT, in a congratulatory letter signed by the leader, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and made available in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, noted that “Governor Oyebanji broke all records in terms of number of votes scored and the prevailing peaceful atmosphere that characterized the election”.
Olusi told the governor, “We recall that four years ago in 2022, you recorded historic win with a margin that was unheard of in the annals of electoral victories since 2003. This second term resounding victory eloquently speak to the level of trust and confidence placed in your leadership by the good people of Ekiti State.
“Indeed this historic second term victory clearly testifies to your hard work, dedication and tangible progress you have brought in all fronts to the good people of Ekiti State through the diligent execution of the developmental progress of the APC, under the leadership of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We can affirm with confidence that your commitment to grassroots development and impactful governance have truly and clearly resonated with the overwhelming majority of the electorate.”
The group wished the governor another successful tenure accompanied with impactful governance.
