2 Men Arraigned For Allegedly Acting As Court Sheriff & Forging Documents To Eject Tenant In Ikotun

Two men were on Monday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ejigbo over allegations of conspiracy, break-in, theft and impersonation at No 20, Odunfa Street, Okerube, Ikotun, Lagos.

The defendants, Kunle Adegboye, aged 50, and Ahmed Adetubo, aged 46, were brought before the court by the Commissioner of Police. They faced a six-count charge bordering on felony, breach of peace and stealing.

According to the charge sheet presented in court, the alleged incident occurred on June 27, 2026, within the Lagos Magisterial District. The prosecution alleged that the defendants conspired with others now at large to commit felony.

The first count stated that the defendants conspired together to commit felony to wit; Breaking, Entry and Stealing. The offence is said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

In the second count, the prosecution alleged that the duo conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace. They were accused of parading themselves as court sheriffs with forged documents to eject a tenant and cart away property at the same address.

The charge further stated that the alleged action was contrary to Section 168 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. Prosecution said the act created tension in the area.

The third and fourth counts bordered on unlawful entry. The defendants were alleged to have broken into and unlawfully entered a two-bedroom apartment belonging to one Ognochia Ebere, with intent to commit felony therein. The offences are punishable under Sections 309 and 308 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

The most serious allegation was contained in the fifth count. The prosecution alleged that the defendants stole items valued at Eight Million Naira.

Items listed included pieces of window curtains, one big Infinite series generator, one 42-inch colour television, different types of shoes, plates, spoons, clothes, one medium fridge, two centre tables, one air conditioner, one standing fan, wall clock and jewelries. The offence was said to be contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

In the sixth count, Kunle Adegboye was separately accused of impersonation. The prosecution alleged that between April 2026 and June 2026, he fraudulently presented himself to one Alhaji Nojeem Oseni as a lawyer and member of court sheriff staff. The offence is punishable under Section 380 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

The charge sheet was signed by CSP Sadiku Afolabi Ibrahim of Ikotun Police Station, dated July 7, 2026. The Investigating Police Officer listed was Inspector Oyewo Olukayode.

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.

The presiding Magistrate, Miss F. R. Ogunkoyede, granted them bail with two sureties who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the Correctional Center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

Legal experts say the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent Court.
