65 Lagos Children to Receive Free Surgery for Breathing Problems

The screening of beneficiaries for 65 free adenotonsillectomy surgeries for children with breathing difficulties is set to commence on Saturday, July 25, and end on Sunday, July 26, in Surulere, Lagos.

The initiative, organised by a group of medical doctors in celebration of Peter Obi’s birthday, is aimed at providing free surgical treatment for children experiencing difficulty breathing through their nose and mouth.

According to the organisers, the surgeries will be available to children suffering from conditions requiring adenotonsillectomy, a procedure involving the removal of the adenoids and tonsils to improve breathing.

The doctors said the programme is designed to support families who may not be able to afford the procedure and to improve the health and wellbeing of affected children in the community.

The screening will take place at Salus Infirmorum Catholic Hospital, No. 1, Olufemi Road, off Ogunlana Drive, Masha, Surulere, Lagos. Saturday’s screening will run from 1pm to 3pm, while Sunday’s session will hold from 2pm to 4pm.

Parents and guardians have been advised to bring the affected children along with their medical test results, as doctors will be on hand to assess them and determine whether surgical or medical treatment is required.
