APC’s Osarobo Wins Ovia South West Chairmanship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Ovia South West Local Government Area, Anthony Osarobo, has been declared winner of Saturday’s local government election in Edo State.
The Returning Officer for the election, Dr. Arodoye Nosakhare, announced the result at the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) Collation Centre in Ovia South West on Saturday.
Nosakhare declared that Osarobo polled 98,994 votes across the 10 wards of the local government area to emerge victorious.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer said the APC candidate secured the highest number of valid votes cast in the election and was therefore duly elected.
“After the collation of results across the various political parties, the APC chairmanship candidate, having scored the majority of valid votes cast, is hereby returned elected,” he declared.
The final results showed that Party A polled 28 votes, AA 42 votes, AAC 32 votes, ADP 26 votes, APC 98,994 votes, APGA 25 votes, APM five votes, APP 12 votes, NNPP one vote, PRP one vote, YPP one vote, while ZLP garnered 15 votes.
Speaking after he was declared winner, the 30-year-old Osarobo expressed gratitude to the people of Ovia South West for the overwhelming support that earned him victory at the polls.
“I am happy to have emerged as the Chairman-elect of Ovia South West Local Government Area,” he said.
Describing his victory as a mandate from the people, Osarobo said he would not take the confidence reposed in him for granted.
“This mandate belongs to the people of Ovia South West, and I will use it to work for them and deliver on my campaign promises,” he assured.
The Edo State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Ikponmwonsa Omorodion, who witnessed the declaration of results, described the election as transparent and congratulated the chairman-elect on his victory.
Omorodion expressed optimism that Osarobo would justify the confidence reposed in him by delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Ovia South West.
“We look forward to him fulfilling the promises he made to the people during his campaign,” he said.
