Democracy: Shekarau, Oshiomhole, Hamzat, Salis lead dignitaries to grace Muslim Professionals’ National Discourse

Arrangements are in top gear by The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and the professions, to host its  7th National Discourse in Lagos, with the former Minister of Education and Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, leading the top dignitaries at the exercise.

This is contained in a press statement jointly signed by the  Chairman, Media, Publicity and Digital Mobilization sub committee, Prof. Tunde Akanni and the Secretary, Tajudeen Balogun and circulated among journalists.

The statement disclosed that the flagship event will take place at J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium (Main Auditorium) University of Lagos, Akoka.

The event with the theme: “Nigeria’s Political Landscape and the Ethno-Religious Divides” will feature Shekarau, as the Chairman; Senator Adams Oshiomhole, as the Keynote Speaker; Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salis and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, as Special Guests of Honour.

The Royal Father of the Day is the Olota of Ota, Aworiland, Oba AbdKabir Obalanlege.

Similarly, former Director General, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Prof. Liasu Adele Jinadu, will deliver the lecture, titled: “Interrogating Nigeria’s Democracy in the Context of Multiple Diversity”.

The event which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, will take off at 10:00am.

The statement affirmed that the exercise will attract a quality audience, including: government functionaries, business executives, public and private institution policy makers, scholars, members of different interest organizations, students, among others.

On the sideline, the planning committee of the event according to the statement will, as usual,  organize free medical check up, for interested attendees, prior to the commencement of the event and while it lasts till afternoon.

The Eagleonline reports that the 6th edition of the program with the theme: “Between Patriotism and Self-Preservation”  was held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Abuja. 

It was chaired by the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, while the lecture titled: “Dilemma of The Nigerian Youth: Challenges At Home, Uncertainties Abroad” was delivered by the Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa. She was supported by the former Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’ Allah.
