Ganduje denies defection rumours, reaffirms loyalty to APC

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed reports claiming he has defected to the New Democratic Congress, describing the allegations as false, mischievous and politically motivated.

Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, said he remained firmly committed to the APC and had no intention of leaving the ruling party.

In a statement issued on Friday by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba, Ganduje described posters circulating on social media alleging his defection as a calculated campaign of misinformation aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC members and fuelling unnecessary political speculation.

According to the statement, Ganduje has remained consistent in his political beliefs and has never contemplated leaving the APC, a party he previously served as National Chairman.

“It is not only false but also illogical for anyone to insinuate that Ganduje has joined the NDC; such a claim lacks both political and logical foundation,” the statement said.

Ganduje maintained that the APC remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political party, adding that it continues to enjoy increasing public support under the leadership of Bola Tinubu.

He described those behind the posters as desperate political actors seeking to tarnish his reputation and create unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.

The former APC chairman also disclosed that the individuals responsible for producing and circulating the alleged fake posters had been identified. He warned that legal action would be taken against them if they failed to immediately withdraw the materials and stop further circulation.

Ganduje urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, insisting they did not reflect his political position or intentions.

The statement reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Tinubu and the APC leadership to advance the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements. It also advised the public to rely only on official communications from Ganduje and the appropriate organs of the APC regarding his political activities.
