‘He’s out!’: Top Trump official taunted after rare on-air admission

This Video Is Trending Right Now
Energy Secretary Chris Wright made a halfhearted admission Sunday that President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, a concession few Trump cabinet officials dare make and one that onlookers predicted would put him directly in Trump’s crosshairs.
“One last question before you go, really simply one: did Joe Biden win the 2020 presidential election?” asked ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, interviewing Wright on ABC News’ “This Week” program.
“He was president for four years, clearly so,” Wright admitted.
Karl pressed Wright for a more straightforward answer, explicitly asking the energy secretary if Biden “clearly won the election?” “Look, I’m not an election evaluator, but it sure seems to me like he did,” Wright said.
While Wright’s admission was less than straightforward, he still confirmed that Biden had “clearly” won the 2020 election, a claim that has fiercely been disputed by Trump for years and on countless occasions.
Chris Robinson, a political commentary content creator and founder of “More On News,” suggested that Wright’s days in the Trump administration may be numbered after his on-air admission.
“Welp, that’s a wrap on Wright,” Robinson wrote Sunday in a social media post on X. “Soon as Trump hears this, he’s out!”
Wright is one of many Trump officials or appointees that have refused to acknowledge Trump’s electoral loss in 2020. A recent example saw Jay Clayton, Trump’s pick to succeed Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, repeatedly refuse to answer whether Trump had lost the 2020 election during his Senate confirmation hearing.
Janie Harrington, a writer and former educator, compared Wright’s elusive answer to teenagers she taught during her time as a teacher.
“It’s almost like dealing with teens suffering from passive-aggressive behavior, something I did for many years while teaching,” Harrington wrote in a social media post on X. “It’s so exhausting and to use Trump’s word, SAD.”
