How Trump authentic letter to Brazil president exposed fake Trump letter to Tinubu – US Firm

A diplomatic letter dispute has intensified after a US lobbyist compared an authentic letter attributed to President Donald Trump with a separate document presented as Trump’s letter to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, alleging major differences between the two.
Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., in a statement shared on its X handle, described the comparison as “A Tale of Two Letters.” The group displayed what it identified as an actual copy of President Trump’s letter to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on one side and the version circulated as Trump’s letter to President Tinubu on the other.
According to the statement, the contrast between the two documents was “beyond clear.” It argued that Trump’s letter to Brazil’s president appeared as an original document, while the version shared in connection with Tinubu was posted as a written transcript through an account linked to the Nigerian president using the Facebook handle @PBATMediaCentre.
The lobbyist said the comparison raised questions because official presidential correspondence is usually verified through the release of the original signed document or a scanned copy. It questioned why the Tinubu-related letter was published as a full text reproduction, including the date and signature block, rather than an image of the original document.
However, Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C. stated that it was not claiming that no diplomatic response letter may have was sent to President Tinubu. The group also said it was not directly accusing President Tinubu of personally creating a false letter, acknowledging that government officials could have released a document on his behalf.
The statement focused on the need for transparency, arguing that only the release of the original signed letter could confirm whether the document attributed to President Trump was genuine.
The controversy has since triggered debate over the authenticity of presidential communications, with critics calling for the original letter to be made public while supporters of the Nigerian government maintain that the correspondence should be judged through official channels.
