“I Couldn’t Take It Anymore” – Akin Olaiya’s Wife Opens Up on Marriage Collapse

Nafisat, the estranged wife of Nigerian Yoruba film actor Akin Olaiya, has spoken publicly about the collapse of their marriage, claiming she could no longer endure the situation that led to her leaving their matrimonial home barely a month after their wedding.
The couple got married in July 2025, years after Olaiya’s first marriage ended.

Rumours of their separation surfaced online a few months after the wedding before the actor confirmed the split in a dissolution statement released on June 22, 2026.

In the statement, Olaiya said Nafisat left their matrimonial home without any crisis and claimed all efforts to persuade her to return were unsuccessful.

However, reacting in a video shared on social media, Nafisat disputed the actor’s account, alleging that she suffered abuse during the marriage.

She also claimed she walked away after discovering that Olaiya had a romantic relationship with her best friend, whom she alleged he later married.

“Can you imagine that after the mistreating, pain and everything, the said husband ends up marrying your own best friend?

“So, what does that mean? It’s because I’m not just the type that will come to say my own side of the story. I’m not used to it because in my own culture they don’t train us like that,” she said.

Olaiya has not publicly responded to Nafisat’s latest allegations at the time of filing this report.
