Illegal haulage: Dangote offers ₦500,000 reward for whistleblowers

Dangote Industries Limited has launched a public whistleblowing initiative offering a ₦500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders involved in illegal haulage using its trucks.

The company said the initiative is part of efforts to safeguard its logistics operations and curb the activities of individuals who unlawfully use Dangote-branded trucks to transport unauthorized goods or persons.

In a statement issued in Lagos, the management urged members of the public to support the campaign by reporting suspicious haulage activities, stressing that only approved products are permitted to be transported by its vehicles.

According to the company, Dangote Cement trucks are authorised to carry only cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal, and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery trucks are restricted to sugar products. Trucks operated by NASCON Allied Industries are designated for Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, and Dangote Packaging vehicles are meant for bags and packaging materials.

Similarly, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals trucks are approved to transport polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited vehicles are designated for urea fertiliser haulage.

The company warned that any Dangote truck found transporting unauthorized goods would be deemed to be engaged in illegal haulage, adding that both drivers and owners of such goods risk arrest, confiscation of cargo, and prosecution.

“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorized goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company stated.

To support enforcement efforts, Dangote advised whistleblowers to provide detailed information when making reports, including the truck type, registration plate number, cab number, location, description of goods, colour of the truck, and photographs where possible.

The company also announced the establishment of dedicated hotlines across its operations to receive reports, including for trucks linked to its Obajana, Okpella, and Gboko plants.

Dangote added that law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been authorised to arrest any driver found using company trucks for unauthorized haulage.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on logistics-related fraud, the company called on the public to collaborate in exposing illegal operators.

“Public cooperation remains critical in our efforts to eradicate illegal haulage activities. We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and help us maintain the integrity of our transportation system,” the statement added.

Dangote Industries said the initiative is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and compliance across its nationwide logistics network, while ensuring offenders are brought to justice.
