Lagos boosts audit workforce with productivity training

The Lagos State Government has organised a four-day capacity-building programme for staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General as part of efforts to improve productivity, efficiency and public service delivery.

The training, organised in collaboration with Bold Perception Consult, was held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference and Exhibition Centre from June 22 to 25.

According to the state government, the programme was designed to strengthen the skills and competencies of officers across different grade levels, enhancing their effectiveness in the workplace.

The training was conducted in two phases. The first session, held on June 22 and 23, was for officers on Grade Levels 01 to 07 under the theme “Empowering the Backbone of Our Organisation.”

The second session, held on June 24 and 25, targeted officers on Grade Levels 08 to 12 with the theme “Enhancing Productivity and Efficiency in the Workplace.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Coordinating Director of the Office of the State Auditor-General, Mrs Koko Omobola, stressed the importance of continuous learning and professional development in building a competent workforce.

She urged participants to maximise the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills that would improve their performance and effectiveness in carrying out their responsibilities.

Also speaking, the Head of the Administration and Human Resources Department, Mrs Adebola Akinleye, said the programme reflected the office’s commitment to investing in human capital as a key driver of organisational growth and improved service delivery.

She noted that the training was designed to equip participants with practical workplace skills and contemporary competencies required to meet the office’s objectives.

The programme featured interactive sessions, practical exercises and discussions on workplace productivity, communication, teamwork, professional ethics and strategies for improving efficiency in the public sector.

Participants commended the management of the Office of the State Auditor-General for organising the training and pledged to apply the knowledge gained to improve their performance.

The state government said the programme forms part of ongoing efforts to build a skilled and motivated workforce capable of delivering quality public services across Lagos State.
