May Edochie drags Yinka Theisen, her former lawyer and others to court over alleged defamation

May Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, and Yinka Omolola Theisen, the ex-girlfriend of Linc Edochie. The suit, which also names several unidentified social media users, alleges a multi-year campaign of cyberbullying, defamation, and online harassment.
According to the court filings, the claimant is asking the court to order the immediate deletion of the disputed social media accounts and posts used to target her person and malign her character.
Furthermore, she is praying the court for an order compelling major social media platforms to disclose the identities and information of anonymous account holders to aid ongoing investigations.
In a massive 126-paragraph affidavit supporting the suit, May alleged that she has endured a sustained campaign of online hostility spanning several years across multiple blogs and Facebook pages.
The affidavit claims the defamatory publications featured false accusations, manipulated photographs, insulting caricatures, AI-generated images, and explicit death wishes intended to ruin her reputation.
The claimant leveled specific accusations against her former legal representative, Emeka Ugwuonye, accusing him of breaching attorney-client privilege. The suit alleges he disclosed confidential information shared during his legal representation of her and published misleading, defamatory materials online.
The legal action follows cease-and-desist notices served by May’s current legal team. Despite those formal demands for content removal, public retractions, and apologies, the affidavit states the attacks have persisted, with new social media pages actively being created to continue the harassment.
Presiding judge, Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen, has directed that all court processes be served across all known contact channels for the defendants. The matter has been adjourned pending the submission of a formal service report.
