The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has confirmed that 34 people have died across Ghana following the severe floods that hit the country on Monday, June 29, 2026. Nearly 90,000 people have also been displaced.
According to adomonline.com on July 4, 2026, NADMO’s Director of Inspectorate, Richard Amo Yartey, said 12 deaths were recorded in Accra, while 22 others occurred in different flood-hit regions.
He warned that the death toll could rise as officials continue to match missing persons with recovered bodies.
“The death toll in Accra is 12, across the country is 34 but it could go up. If we did the matching and realise that some of the people missing have been found dead, then the death toll will increase and those listed as missing will reduce,” he said.
He added that NADMO teams are still on the ground conducting search and rescue operations while supporting affected communities.
“As I speak to you now the warehouse is busy moving supplies to the distressed. Relief is across the country, we are going to send relief everywhere,” he stated.
NADMO data shows that seven regions were affected by the floods, with 89,736 people displaced in total.
The Greater Accra Region recorded the highest number with 54,712 displaced people. The Central Region followed with 21,882.
The Volta Region recorded 8,534 displaced persons, while 2,020 were displaced in the Western Region.
The Ashanti Region recorded 1,461 displaced people, Western North had 937, and the Eastern Region recorded 190 displaced persons in Abuakwa South.
NADMO says response teams remain deployed as search, recovery, and relief efforts continue across affected areas.
