Nigerian man k!lled in UK car crash

A Nigerian man has been named as one of three men tragically k!lled in a devastating crash in the United Kingdom.

David Oyedeji Adediwura d!ed after a crash involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a grey BMW 840i on Cory Wright Way in Wheathampstead at 9.38pm on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Hertfordshire Police confirmed three men travelling in the Astra, aged in their 30s, 40s and 50s, were pronounced d3ad at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A GoFundMe page has since been launched by Adediwura’s former colleague from Yodel and DHL, Iretiayo Oyewole.

A fundraising target of £10,000 has been set which will support the victim’s wife and three children “during this extremely difficult period”.

Describing his d3ath as sudden and devastating, Oyewole said the incident had left his family, friends, and colleagues struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“David’s d3ath was sudden, heartbreaking, and completely unexpected. News of the tragedy has left his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew him struggling to come to terms with an unimaginable loss,” the appeal read.

Oyewole described the deceased as a dedicated worker and compassionate colleague whose generosity and willingness to support others earned him the admiration of those around him.

“David was more than a colleague. He was a valued member of our community whose presence, kindness, and contributions touched the lives of those around him.

“He will be remembered for his warm personality, generosity, dedication to his work, and willingness to support others,” Oyewole added.

He said the fundraiser was aimed at raising £10,000 to cover funeral and burial expenses, transportation, immediate financial support for his family, and other costs associated with laying him to rest with dignity.

“This fundraiser is being organised by his former colleague from Yodel and DHL, with the knowledge and consent of David’s family. All donations will be used for the purposes described above, and appropriate updates will be provided to donors,” the appeal stated.

He appealed to members of the public to support the campaign through donations or by sharing it, while urging well-wishers to keep the deceased’s family in their prayers.

Meanwhile, Adedeji’s widow, Modinat Adebayo, has paid an emotional tribute to him, describing his d3ath as the darkest day of her life.

According to her, the couple relocated from Nigeria to the UK with hopes of building a better future for their family, but those dreams were cut short by the fatal accident.

“The 22nd of July, 2026, became the darkest day of my life. You left home in search of a better future for our family, never knowing it would be your final journey. A tragic gasoline motor fire accident took you away from us, and our lives changed forever,” she wrote. 

She described her husband as her best friend, confidant, prayer partner, and greatest supporter, saying he worked tirelessly to provide a better life for their family.

The grieving widow recalled that their final conversation on the night before his d3ath would remain with her forever, lamenting that he left without saying goodbye.

“The last conversation we had on Wednesday night will forever remain in my heart. I never imagined those would be the last words I would ever hear from you. You left without saying goodbye. Your absence has left a pain that words cannot describe,” she added.
