NYCN Diaspora Expels Former Switzerland Ambassador Chukwudi Igwilo, Warns Nigerians Over AERO Festival Claims

The Governor of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Europe Chapter and Diaspora , Collins Osazee Idahosa, has announced the expulsion of a former Switzerland Chapter ambassador Mr. Chukwudi Igwilo from the organisation, while warning Nigerians against claims linking an annual Swiss festival to NYCN activities.

According to Idahosa, the former official is no longer a member, ambassador or representative of NYCN Diaspora, having resigned from the organisation and subsequently had his resignation formally accepted by the leadership.

He stated that the acceptance of the resignation terminated any authority to represent NYCN in any capacity.

“The individual is no longer part of our structure. His resignation was submitted and accepted, and therefore he cannot speak on behalf of NYCN Diaspora or represent the organisation in any form,” Idahosa said.

The Governor further alleged that despite leaving the organisation, the former official continued to engage in activities capable of creating confusion regarding NYCN’s official position and representation.

Idahosa also raised concerns over the promotion of a festival being circulated among Nigerians in Europe and on social media.

According to him, the event is not organised, sponsored or hosted by NYCN and should not be presented as a Nigerian youth programme.

He explained that publicly available information shows the event is an annual Swiss festival that has existed for years and is hosted in Switzerland.

The Governor pointed to information available on the festival’s platforms, including AERO Festival Switzerland (www.aero-festival.ch) and Music Festival Wizard’s AERO Festival 2026 listing (www.musicfestivalwizard.com/festivals/aero-festival-2026/), which identify the event as a Swiss music festival held annually in Bern, Switzerland.

“The festival is not organised by NYCN. It is not a Nigerian festival and it is not hosted by Nigerians. It is a Swiss festival that has been taking place every year in Switzerland. Nigerians should not be misled into believing it is an NYCN programme or a Nigerian youth initiative,” he stated.

Idahosa urged Nigerians both at home and abroad to verify information before registering for events, making payments or associating programmes with recognised organisations.

“We encourage Nigerians to verify every claim. Before registering or committing resources to any programme, people should confirm the actual organisers and whether the event has any legitimate connection to the organisations being mentioned,” he said.

The NYCN Diaspora leadership reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and protecting the interests of Nigerian youths globally, while urging members of the public to rely only on official NYCN communication channels for information concerning the organisation.

As of the time of filing this report, no response had been received from the former official regarding the allegations made by the NYCN Diaspora leadership.
