Outrage Erupts Over Okanlomo’s Alleged Ethnic Remarks On Social Media

More controversial details have emerged online, of a US-based Nigerian man, Temmy Okanlomo, following outrage over his alleged comments targeting an Igbo property owner in Lagos.

A review of a post allegedly made by Okanlomo revealed statements warning Yoruba people to prepare for what he described as a threat to their land, identity and political influence.

In the post, he allegedly urged Yoruba people to begin thinking about the issue, arguing that “One Nigeria” should not mean other ethnic groups could regard Yoruba land as a “no man’s land.”

He allegedly contended that selling land or properties to people from other ethnic groups should not give them the right to interfere in the politics or affairs of the community where such properties are located.

He allegedly claimed that even when properties are sold, they remain connected to Yorubaland, adding that ownership could still be reclaimed regardless of the financial value attached to the transaction.

In another controversial part of the post, he allegedly called on Yoruba religious leaders to address what he described as a “South Africa-style” takeover, while urging residents to ensure that Yoruba communities were protected.

He also allegedly told people to return to their regions and develop them, warning non-Yoruba residents against what he described as disrespect toward Yoruba people.

The post reportedly ended with a declaration that his position was an “ideology” that no one could stop.

The alleged statements have generated criticism from social media users, who accused Okanlomo of promoting ethnic division and rhetoric capable of heightening tensions among Nigerians.

The development comes hours after another alleged online exchange involving Okanlomo went viral, in which he was accused of encouraging violence against an Igbo man who reportedly purchased a 16-flat building in a Lagos community.

In that earlier alleged exchange, he was accused of urging a Facebook user to organise and either kidn@p or k!ll the property owner, over claims that the man was disrespecting native landowners.

The comments have triggered calls from social media users for relevant authorities in Nigeria and the United States to investigate the matter.
