George Clooney And Wife Amal Flee France Home Under Uncontrollable Circumstances: ‘Terrible Moment’

In an unfortunate turn of events, George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney have been forced to flee their luxury estate in Brignoles, France.
The couple, who reside in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region with their nine-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, have joined thousands of residents displaced by the catastrophic wildfires currently ravaging southern Europe.
This update comes weeks after George turned 65, when his wife surprised him with a fun-filled birthday celebration with his friends and family.
George and his wife confirmed their departure in a letter to the mayor of Brignoles. Expressing deep anxiety for the future of their property, the letter stated, “At this point, we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding their property, the Clooneys emphasized that their primary concern remains the safety of their neighbors.
“Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole,” the couple wrote.
“We love Brignoles and our friends who live there,” they added, as reported by People Magazine.
The Clooneys’ sudden departure comes amid a wider regional crisis, with wildfires across France now four times the size of Paris. Recent reports indicate that approximately 224,000 people have been evacuated in the Gironde region alone, and thousands more are displaced across the Mediterranean basin.
The ongoing emergency continues to impact neighboring nations, with mass evacuations reported in Spain and tragic firefighter fatalities confirmed in Greece.
George Clooney Recently Celebrated A Major Milestone Birthday
Before facing the recent uncertainty of the wildfires in southern France, George marked a major personal milestone on May 6, when he officially turned 65. The Oscar-winning actor and his wife, human rights attorney Amal, celebrated the occasion with an elaborate surprise organized by Amal.
The couple later appeared at the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where they shared lighthearted details about the birthday experience.
According to The Blast, George jokingly said that his wife’s penchant for elaborate stunts is becoming a health hazard. “It’s a dangerous thing to surprise someone when they turn 65 because you could drop,” he quipped.
The Actor Drew A Line On His On-Screen Romance
Beyond his personal celebrations and recent displacement by wildfires, the Hollywood icon has officially signaled a shift in his professional priorities.
In late 2025, George announced that he would no longer perform kissing scenes in his films. He explained that this decision came after meaningful discussions with his wife, Amal, regarding the evolution of his career and his transition into a new stage of life, per The Blast.
By stepping away from traditional heartthrob roles, the actor is now focusing his energy on his family, including his wife and their twins.
George Clooney And His Wife Relocated To France Reportedly Seeking A Quieter Lifestyle
George’s decision to focus on his family was also reflected in his move to France, which reportedly offers a more private retreat than the “pressure cooker” of Hollywood.
As reported by The Blast, experts note that modern industry has become deeply politicized, with virtually every career choice, public statement, or social media interaction dissected through a polarized cultural lens.
This relentless demand for performative engagement has reportedly prompted celebrities like George to seek distance from the domestic spotlight.
George Clooney Endorsed Callum Turner as the Next 007
Even as George retreated to a quieter life in France, he still aired his opinion on important Hollywood matters, such as who should be the next 007.
As the search for the next actor to inhabit the iconic role of James Bond continues, Clooney has thrown his weight behind one of his former co-stars, Callum Turner.
He shared his high praise for the actor, saying, “I hope Callum ends up being the next Bond. I think he would be a great Bond. George further commended Turner for his professional integrity, noting that the actor has consistently prioritized artistic substance over easy commercial paychecks.
George pointedly stated that there was “something” special about Turner, adding that it has been rewarding to watch audiences take notice of his talent. He also commended his physical appearance, calling him “tall and handsome” and adding that he would be perfect for the role, per The Blast.
Notably, while the casting process is underway, no official successor to Daniel Craig has been named.
