Police called after intruder breaches security at England’s World Cup base in Kansas City

Police were called after an intruder breached security at England’s World Cup media centre in Kansas City, raising fresh concerns over safety at the Three Lions’ tournament base.
The incident occurred on Thursday at the media facility near England’s training headquarters at Swope Soccer Village.
According to reports, a man carrying a wrench entered the restricted area while shouting, alarming journalists covering the team.
The man appeared to be distressed upon his entry, and he was ultimately ushered out of the media centre and disarmed.
Kansas City police detained the individual, who had tried to leave the location after he heard sirens in the area.
Media centre staff, members of the FA and journalists were present at the time of the incident.
England are back in action on Saturday evening when they take on Norway in their World Cup quarter-final in Miami.
