Rivers govt rewards 10 NYSC members with N20m

The Rivers State Government has rewarded 10 indigenes who received the prestigious National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Presidential Honours Award with a total sum of ₦20 million.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara announced the reward on Thursday in Port Harcourt through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Dagogo Wokoma, during a ceremony held in honour of the award recipients.

The beneficiaries are Nwile Promise, Nwakoo Bariagara, Chika Michelle, Samyaaloh Lekia, Chuku Diana, Okulu Sarah, Nwaubochi Godswill, Wori Precious, Paola Bob-Yellowe and Gideon Nwaokugha.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, the governor described them as worthy ambassadors of Rivers State whose outstanding service during their national service year had brought honour and pride to the state.

Fubara reiterated his administration’s commitment to human capital development and the promotion of excellence across all sectors, assuring that the state government would continue to recognise and encourage exceptional achievements among young people.

He commended the awardees for their dedication, discipline and selfless contributions to national development, urging them to sustain the values that earned them national recognition.

The Rivers State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Moses Oleghe, expressed appreciation to Governor Fubara for the gesture, saying it would motivate other corps members to strive for excellence.

Oleghe reaffirmed the scheme’s commitment to partnering with the state government to nurture graduates capable of making meaningful contributions to nation-building.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Gideon Nwaokugha thanked the governor for recognising and rewarding their achievements.

He assured that the recipients would continue to uphold the values of excellence and remain worthy ambassadors of Rivers State wherever they found themselves.
