Suspected bandit arrested in Katsina with phones, motorcycle

Troops from the 17 Brigade have arrested a man suspected to be involved in banditry during a routine operation in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to security sources, the suspect, identified as Lawal Sani, was arrested around 3:14 p.m. on July 15 after soldiers returning from an operation in Bakori stopped briefly at Yantumaki.
The sources told Zagazola Malama, a security expert that officers searched the suspect’s mobile phone and allegedly found a video showing him carrying an AK-47 rifle.
“Upon the discovery, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee but was quickly subdued and arrested by the troops,” the sources said.
Security personnel recovered a motorcycle, two mobile phones (Infinix and Tecno), a coloured photocopy of a National Identity Card, a Moniepoint ATM card, an MTN SIM card, and ₦5,020 in cash.
The suspect is currently being held by the military while investigations continue, after which he may face prosecution.
