Tinubu approves establishment of Army Battalion in Kwara — Gov, AbdulRazaq

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of a new Nigerian Army battalion in the state to strengthen security and combat banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mashood Agboola, on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Mr AbdulRazaq said that the battalion would enhance security operations and improve response to emerging threats across the state.

According to him, the new military formation is to be located in Omu Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

The governor also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, for the prompt processing of the state’s request for increased military presence.

He further acknowledged the support of the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their commitment to tackling terrorism, banditry and related crimes.

“On behalf of the government and people of Kwara State, I sincerely thank Mr President for yet another promise fulfilled to our state.

“We are confident that the new battalion will significantly strengthen counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across various parts of the state,” the governor said.

He also commended the ongoing multi-agency security operations aimed at eliminating criminal elements, rescuing victims and flushing out bandits from forest reserves across the state.
