President Bola Tinubu has formally presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with a certificate confirming his nomination as the All Progressives Congress vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election, following the party’s confirmation of Shettima as his running mate for the next general election.
The event became public on Thursday after the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, shared a video on his social media pages showing Shettima arriving at the venue, exchanging brief remarks with Tinubu and receiving the certificate.
Sharing the video, Dada described it as President Tinubu presenting the certificate to Vice President Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 election.
He also dismissed reports suggesting there had been uncertainty over Shettima’s position, insisting that the Vice President’s place in the administration was never in doubt, adding that some people simply create scenarios in their heads.
The certificate presentation follows the APC’s recent endorsement of Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate, bringing an end to months of speculation over who would represent the party as its vice-presidential candidate.
The ruling party has expressed confidence that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket will seek a second term in 2027, having completed its nomination process ahead of the deadline for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The certificate presentation forms part of the party’s broader preparations for the 2027 general election.
