Tinubu Unveils Fresh Promise as FCT Water Project Signals New Push

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday disclosed that his administration has zero tolerance for excuses, stressing that it is focused on delivering results to Nigerians.

Tinubu made the remark during the commissioning of the water supply network to Bwari Satellite Town in the Federal Capital Territory, as part of projects earmarked to mark his third year in office.

Represented by his wife, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, the president also assured that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not a mere slogan but a deliberate social contract and commitment to governance.

He said the Renewed Hope Agenda reflects a genuine commitment to governance that works for the people, recalling that when the administration took office three years ago, it made a solemn promise that development would reach every part of the country, ensuring that city centres, satellite towns and rural communities all benefit from ongoing progress and opportunities.

Tinubu noted that the water supply network forms part of the fulfilment of his administration’s promises to the people of Bwari, the FCT, and Nigerians in general, adding that similar commitments had earlier been fulfilled in Karu the previous month through the provision of water and road networks.

He recalled that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, had presented him with the masterplan for the intervention, noting that residents of Bwari, Ushafa and surrounding communities had for years relied on untreated boreholes and streams for water, a situation he described as unacceptable.

He said he directed the minister to mobilise the best resources to fix the problem, stressing that clean water is not a luxury but a fundamental right and a matter of dignity, and that the administration was now commissioning a state-of-the-art 98-kilometre pipeline network as proof that it delivers results rather than excuses.

The president assured that the project forms part of broader efforts by his administration to combat waterborne diseases, explaining that linking Bwari township and its environs to the major treated water source and the Usman Dam would help end waterborne illnesses and reduce reliance on the constant and expensive digging of boreholes.
