Tinubu’s Alleged US Drug Case Files Now Before Trump – Atiku’s Aide Claims

A media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has claimed that United States President Donald Trump has been made aware of court documents relating to President Bola Tinubu’s past legal records in the United States.

The claim follows reports that a Washington-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York L.C., is circulating United States Department of Justice records connected to a decades-old civil forfeiture case involving Tinubu to officials in the Trump administration, members of Congress, and senior congressional aides.

According to the firm, the documents are being shared to draw attention to allegations contained in US government filings from investigations conducted in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

In a post on his verified 𝕏 account on Wednesday, Paul Ibe alleged that Tinubu’s 60-page Department of Justice file concerning alleged heroin trafficking and the forfeiture of $460,000 had been brought to Trump’s attention through the lobbying firm.

He wrote: “Finally, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 60-page DOJ files on heroin trafficking and forfeiture of $460,000 has been brought to the attention of @realDonaldTrump courtesy of a US lobbyist firm… Nigerians deserve to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”

However, Ibe did not provide evidence that President Trump had personally been briefed on the documents or that any action had been taken by the US administration regarding the matter.

President Tinubu has consistently denied wrongdoing in relation to the decades-old US civil forfeiture case. The issue has also been the subject of previous legal and political debates in Nigeria.
