Transfer: KRC Genk hand Akpan new four-year contract

Nigerian defender Christian Akpan has signed a new four-year contract with Belgian Pro League outfit KRC Genk, DAILY POST reports.
The versatile defender will now remain at the Cegeka Arena until 2030.
The 21-year-old linked up with Genk in 2023, and progressed through the club’s youth system before graduating to the main team.
Akpan made his first team debut against Gent last season, claiming the Man of the Match award.
The young defender featured for the first time for the Super Eagles in the 2-1 friendly defeat to Portugal last month.
He was replaced by Abdullahi Bewene in the 60th minute of the encounter.
