Trump alleged letter to Tinubu before learning he was distributing heroin’s across US

An alleged letter reportedly sent by United States President Donald J. Trump to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has generated widespread reactions after it was shared by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

The letter, dated July 6, 2026, praises President Tinubu’s leadership, particularly his administration’s efforts to combat insecurity, terrorism, and attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria. It also highlights the growing security partnership between the United States and Nigeria, including the 2026 US–Nigeria Defence Cooperation Roadmap and American military support for Nigeria’s armed forces.

However, the authenticity of the letter has not been independently verified.

However strong concerns now swirl that Trump may not have known about Tinubu alleged links to a heroin distribution ring operating in the United States that has wrecked thousands of lives before the letter was written.

The publication of the alleged correspondence has also revived public discussion about President Tinubu’s past legal controversy in the United States. Some critics have questioned whether, if the letter is genuine, President Trump wasn’t fully aware of Tinubu’s historical US drug-related case before sending the alledged letter .

President Tinubu has long faced scrutiny over a civil forfeiture case in the United States linked to allegations of narcotics proceeds in the early 1990s. While no criminal conviction resulted from that matter, it has remained a subject of political controversy in Nigeria.

The alleged letter states in part:

“Thank you for your thoughtful letter. Your kind words mean a great deal to me, and I appreciate your decisive leadership on behalf of the Nigerian people. I applaud your resolve to tackle the issues plaguing your nation, especially the violence affecting Christian communities, and it is a true honor to stand with you in the fight against terrorists and to make the Federal Republic of Nigeria stronger and more prosperous.”

It further describes the US–Nigeria relationship as critical to regional security and expresses support for continued cooperation against terrorism.

As of the time of publication, neither the White House nor other official US government sources have publicly confirmed the authenticity of the letter.
