President Donald Trump is showing his old age with his latest political attacks, according to one of his biographers.

In an episode of Inside Trump’s Head, host Joanna Coles and Michael Wolff, who wrote “Fire and Fury,” explained how Trump’s latest political attacks against “communists” reveal how his age is catching up to him.

Coles noted that Trump’s father had dementia and Trump’s “symptoms of dementia started showing up when he was 80.” She added, “Maybe it’s part of the aging process, where, as people get older… you tend to remember the past more clearly than you can remember what happened yesterday.”

Trump has recently been attacking Democrats as “communists,” especially as Democratic Socialists have won primaries for congressional seats. Coles suggested that “it may be that age is just creeping up with him” and Trump might be remembering his younger days with his political attacks.

Wolff noted that Trump’s mentor was Roy Cohn, who “was Joe McCarthy’s henchman, and Joe McCarthy, of course, came to power saying there are x number of communists.” Wolff added, “Trump exists in decades gone by.”

However, Wolff contended that the attack against communists is the result of Trump’s side “flailing” as “everybody sees these numbers, these midterm numbers…and they’re trying to do something.”

Still, “The people in the White House also appreciate the fact that he is old, and it’s not necessarily dementia, but it is a frame of reference that he can’t update,” Wolff said. “That’s probably for many old people…living in a cultural moment that has little relevance at this particular time.”
