Police in the United Kingdom are searching for a 31-year-old Ghanaian man who has been convicted of causing the death of his 7-month-old daughter in a drunk driving crash but failed to appear in court for sentencing.
According to Thames Valley Police on June 29, 2026, the incident happened in December 2022 in Milton Keynes.
The man, identified as Emmanuel Sakyi, allegedly drove a grey Peugeot 508 on the wrong side of the road and collided with an oncoming Fiat 500.
His 7-month-old daughter, Emmanuela, was seated on her mother’s lap in the front passenger seat without proper restraint. She suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital.
At Aylesbury Crown Court, a jury found him guilty of causing death by dangerous driving. Evidence showed he was driving at twice the legal alcohol limit, ignored warnings from other motorists, and fled the scene after the crash.
He was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison and banned from driving for 18 years after failing to appear for sentencing.
Detective Sergeant Ed Crofts of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said police are still working to locate him.
“This is a devastating case where a child’s life has been lost. Our enquiries are focused on ensuring Sakyi faces the consequences of his actions.
“Anyone with information on Sakyi’s whereabouts is asked to call 101 or make a report online, quoting reference 20260622-2396″, the statement said.
