A Nigerian woman has stirred mixed reactions on social media after advising women not to love their husbands, arguing that it is not a wife’s responsibility to love her spouse.
According to her, many women are unhappy in their marriages because they have taken on what she described as the man’s role while neglecting their own responsibilities.
In a viral video shared on social media, she urged women not to love their husbands, insisting that loving a husband is not a wife’s duty but rather the responsibility of the man to love his wife.
She maintained that a woman’s primary responsibility in marriage is to respect her husband and give him peace of mind, insisting that love should come from the man.
The lady further claimed that when a man genuinely loves his wife, submission and respect from the woman will come naturally without being forced, explaining that a woman’s duty is limited to respecting her husband and giving him peace of mind, and that once she offers those two things, the man will love her unconditionally.
She added that when a man loves his wife, submission comes naturally, without the need to force it or demand respect.
Her remarks have generated heated debate online, with some people agreeing with her perspective on gender roles in marriage, while others insisted that love, respect and commitment should be mutual between both husband and wife.
“As a wife, it is not your responsibility to love your husband. The reason you don’t have peace is because you love your husband. Your own duty is just to respect him”
