15-Year-Old Boy Dies After Drowning in Jigawa Pond

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has confirmed the d£ath of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, who dr0wned in a pond popularly known as Sterling Pond along Disina Road in Dutse Local Government Area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen, saying the command received a distress call and immediately deployed personnel from the Takur Site Division to the scene.

According to the statement, the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday at about 4:30 p.m. after the victim, a resident of Bokoto Quarters in Dutse, was reportedly swimming in the pond.

The statement said officers evacuated the boy to the General Hospital, Dutse, where a medical doctor confirmed him d£ad.

The NSCDC said the body was subsequently released to the family for burial in line with Islamic rites.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed condolences to the family over the loss of the teenager, praying for the repose of his soul and for the family to be granted the strength to bear the loss.
