176 Abducted Residents Regain Freedom Months After Deadly Kwara Attack

Kwara State Government has announced the release of 176 residents who had been @bd¥cted during a t£rrorist att@ck on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area on February 3, 2026, concluding months of uncertainty for victims and their families.

The announcement was made through the state government’s official channels on Wednesday, with expressions of gratitude extended to the President, security agencies, and all parties involved in securing the victims’ freedom.

The abductees were t@k£n after suspected Boko Haram-affiliated extremists stormed the two rural communities on motorcycles in a coordinated att@ck spanning several hours.

The assault, characterised as among the most devastating in Kwara State’s history, reportedly claimed over 200 lives, wounded multiple individuals, destroyed residential and commercial structures, and prompted numerous residents to evacuate their communities.

Local vigilante groups who attempted to resist the att@ckers were reportedly overwhelmed, with some reportedly trapped and b¥rnt alive within their operational base.

The state government has not disclosed details regarding the circumstances of the victims’ release or whether any financial payment was involved in securing their freedom.
