Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a quarter-final berth in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations following a decisive 6-2 victory over Egypt in their final Group C fixture on Wednesday.
Facing a requirement to win by at least three goals to progress from a three-way tussle involving Nigeria, Zambia and Malawi, the Falcons delivered a dominant offensive performance.
The victory left Nigeria level on six points with both Zambia and Malawi but advanced them alongside Malawi on goal difference.
Multiple goal-scoring contributors featured in the emphatic display, with Nigeria also capitalising on three penalty conversions.
The commanding win enabled Nigeria’s recovery following an opening group-stage defeat and sustained their pursuit of a record-extending 11th continental championship title.
The ten-time African champions will contest Cameroon in the quarter-final round.
