15-year-old boy drowns in Jigawa pond

A 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, has drowned in a pond in Dutse, Jigawa State. 

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

According to Mahmud, the command received a distress call concerning the drowning of the teenager at Sterling Pond along Disina Road.

He explained that immediately after receiving the distress call, personnel of the NSCDC stationed at the Takur Site Division mobilised to the scene, evacuated the victim from the pond and rushed him to the General Hospital, Dutse where he was confirmed d3ad.

“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has confirmed the drowning of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, at a pond popularly known as Sterling Pond along Disina Road in Dutse Local Government Area,” the statement read.

“The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m., when the Command received a distress call reporting that the victim, a resident of Bokoto Quarters, Dutse, had drowned in the pond.

“Upon receiving the report, NSCDC personnel at TAKUR SITE DIVISION immediately mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where a medical doctor confirmed him d3ad.

“Following the confirmation of d3ath, the remains of the deceased were released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

“The State Commandant of NSCDC Jigawa State Command, Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for Allah (SWT) to grant the departed eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
