2026 Zenith Bank Tennis Tourney: Finalists emerge

The 2026 Zenith Bank Team Tennis Tournament concludes its week-long run today, Friday, August 21, 2026, on the center stage of the Ikoyi Club 1938 courts in Lagos.
This followed an intense semi-final showdown between Prestige Banking, Diaspora Banking, Zenith Aspire, and Zenith Zeca.
The tournament started on Monday with a total of 64 players drawn into 8 teams, each with 8 players.
The teams were then drawn into 2 groups.
The 4 teams in each group played against each other in a round robin format, with 2 teams in each group qualifying for the semi finals stage of the competition.
The semi final matches played yesterday, saw the teams contesting in best of three sets format, in two singles and three doubles matches, with each singles match attracting 2 points and each doubles match attracting 3 points.
In the end, Prestige Banking Team narrowly edged out Zenith Zeca Team by 7 points to 6, while Diaspora Banking Team defeated Zenith Bank Aspire Team by 8 points to 5.
The stage is now set for the finals between Prestige Banking Team and Diaspora Banking Team, in what promises to be an explosive encounter.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Tennis Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, Victor Onyenkpa, said it has been a week in which members of the club witnessed quality tennis and lots of fun.
“This tournament has lived up to its billing. It has been full of thrills and keen contest from all the participants.
“After what we saw in the semis, I have no doubt that the finals this evening will be very keenly contested. I am looking forward to an evening of top quality tennis,” Onyenkpa said.
