Bendel Insurance FC begin new season with Warri Wolves as Mgt targets Premier League title

Bendel Insurance football club of Benin is set to begin their title chase campaign in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL tomorrow afternoon at the famous Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin city.

The opening-day clash in Benin brings together two proud old Bendel clubs with rich history, passion as the Benin Arsenals will be eager to make home advantage count in the anticipated fieced battle of
Bendel Derby.
Kickoff time is 4pm at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Bendel Insurance FC look to build on last season’s fifth-place finish, while Warri Wolves on the other hand will want to show determination and resistance in Benin City.

Speaking ahead of the clash,the technical manager of Bendel Insurance Coach Kennedy Boboye said his team is in good shape and ready for the Sunday opener and other huge tasks ahead. He said that he was not under any pressure despite management demand for league title.

The Benin Arsenals head into the fixture buoyed by the return of their supporters and fans to the stands after serving out a 3-match behind closed doors stadium sanction.

A packed full Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium is expected to provide a vibrant backdrop and intimidating roaring and chants from the fans for the season opener.

The chairman of the Bendel Insurance Jarrett Tenebe has already spoken of the ambition of the club that the target of management this season is a stronger finish this season, preferably the league title.
He revealed that management was delegate about investing in bringing top class players to beaf up the team to enable them compete favourably with other big clubs in the premier league.

Chairman Tenebe assures Edo football stakeholders and fans to expect good football this season and called on Benin residents to come out in their large numbers to cheer up Bendel Insurance FC against Warri Wolves tomorrow.

However, Bendel Insurance will have to navigate the opening weeks of the season without head coach Kennedy Boboye on the touchline. Boboye is currently in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, where he is leading reigning NWFL champions Edo Queens at the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers on an interim basis. The experienced tactician is expected to miss Insurance’s first two league matches, leaving his assistants with the responsibility of steering the team through the opening fixtures.
