Political campaigns for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections officially kicked off on Wednesday, August 19.
Parties and candidates now have 150 days until voting day on January 16, 2027.
This marks the start of nationwide political activity.
Political parties will now step up rallies, meet with voters, run media campaigns and push for support in communities across the country.
The presidential election happens the same day as Senate and House of Representatives races on January 16, 2027.
Governorship and State House of Assembly elections follow on February 6, 2027.
The campaign period is expected to be intensely competitive, with major parties and candidates presenting their plans and working hard to win voter support ahead of the general elections.
