After 17 Years, Okin Biscuits Machines Roar Back to Life

Okin Biscuits has started production again after sitting idle for seventeen years.

The company got one of its production lines working at its factory in Kwara State on August 25 for the first time in nearly two decades.

The factory had been inactive so long that thieves stole critical parts like cables, motors and electronic equipment.

The company had to rebuild the entire production line from scratch.

Running the line again was mainly a test to see if the machinery could be revived after such a long break.

The company said it worked the machines that had been silent for seventeen years are now running again.

The factory has also reconnected to the national electricity grid after getting a power supply from the electricity company.

This will help with further testing and repair work as the company works toward bringing full production back online.

The company made clear that just because the machines are working does not mean the biscuits are ready to sell yet.

There is still more testing, more fine-tuning and more work needed before Okin can return to store shelves.

The company wants to get the taste and quality exactly right before people can buy them again.

Okin Biscuits was founded in 1980 by Emmanuel Adesoye, a businessman from Offa in Kwara State.

For many years, the brand was well known among Nigerian shoppers.

But when the factory closed down, Okin disappeared from the market. Now the company is working to bring it back.

The company has not yet said when full production will resume, but it says Okin is coming back, one step at a time.
