Beartooth singer Caleb Shomo says he faced ?a lot of h0m0ph0b!a? after coming out as g@y and divorcing wife of 14 years

Beartooth singer Caleb Shomo has opened up about facing what he described as “a lot of h0m0ph0b!a” after coming out as g@y and separating from his wife, Fleur Shomo.

Speaking on The Breakdown with Nath & Johnny podcast, Caleb revealed that he first came out to his friends and family in September 2025 before publicly announcing in May 2026 that he was a “proudly g@y man.”

The 33-year-old singer said he decided not to hide or tone down who he was despite the criticism.

“I had already decided, like, I’m not gonna water myself down at all,” he said.

He added that he wanted the freedom to dress, sing and present himself however he wanted but was met with significant opposition.

Caleb said the backlash became difficult to deal with, prompting him to step away from the internet for a while as he navigated the challenges in his personal life.

He publicly came out in May 2026, the same month he and Fleur jointly filed for divorce. Fleur and his bandmates publicly expressed their support for him following his announcement.

Caleb said he still faces criticism but is focused on processing his experiences through his forthcoming music.
