Police have launched another search for missing Marc Jaskulski in the Roggebotsebos forest near Dronten in the Netherlands.
Officers returned to the area along Hanzeweg on Monday, August 31, 2026.
An excavator was brought into the forest as part of the operation. Police said the search could continue for several hours.
Authorities have not revealed whether they received new information or what specific evidence they are searching for.
Jaskulski has been missing since April 15, 2024. He was 36 when he disappeared.
He was last seen on Langstraat in Dronten at about 2:15 p.m. Police believe he left his home on a brown and grey Gazelle bicycle.
The bicycle was discovered in water near Drontermeerdijk in July 2024.
Investigators also established that his phone last connected to a mast in the Roggebotzand area.
Police say their investigation indicates that Jaskulski had arranged to meet someone in the forest. They now believe he may have become the victim of a crime.
The Netherlands Forensic Institute searched the area earlier in August. Human remains were discovered in the forest on August 10.
DNA testing confirmed that the remains belonged to an unidentified man. However, police established that they were not Jaskulski’s remains.
A separate investigation is underway to identify the man and determine how he died.
Police arrested a 42-year-old man on June 15 over possible involvement in Jaskulski’s disappearance.
Authorities have released few details about the suspect or the exact allegations against him. He has not been convicted of any crime in connection with the case.
A €15,000 reward remains available for information that helps investigators solve the disappearance.
The renewed operation shows that the search for Jaskulski is continuing more than two years after he was last seen.
