Benue 2027: Obstructing Alia is political highway robbery — CPS

Sir Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia, has told his people of Ushongo Local Government Area that thwarting his principal’s second term in 2027, especially by anyone from Ushongo, is tantamount to political highway robbery.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor stated this on Sunday at Mbayem, Atirkyese in Ushongo Local Government Area.

Kula said this when he addressed a crowd that graced the reception that followed a Thanksgiving Mass in honour of a party official in the area, Benard Dooga, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Boor.

He pointed out that as far as democracy is concerned, there is nothing wrong with voting out an elected leader who is not delivering on his mandate. 

He, however, added that there is everything wrong in teaming up against a transformative leader like Governor Alia who is steadily delivering on the terms of his contract with the people of the state. 

He said: “Those who are conniving, cooking vicious propaganda to deceive the people to undermine the monumental strides of the Governor can only show how far their desperation to return Benue to the land of torture they experienced over the years. 

“You must reject them with their resurrected sweet promises.

“If today Nigeria is talking about zoning arrangements or power shift, that arrangement emanated from the Tiv people principle of eat and give it to your brother.

“The people of Ushongo cannot prematurely challenge the governorship of the state at this moment. 

“Even if the Kwande block is to produce a governor now, it cannot be Ushongo.

“The Jechira bloc is presently occupying the seat with Governor Alia holding sway, and like other blocs, they need to complete their two terms.”

Kula stated that Governor Alia is steadily delivering on his covenant with the people, pointing out the unprecedented interventions in road networks spanning the three geopolitical zones. 

The list as part of his achievements massive interventions in education through the renovation and construction of schools and resuscitation of the system with over 9,000 manpower, serious improvements in healthcare infrastructure and equipment, housing, agriculture, security interventions, youth employment, civil service reforms, and establishing industries and revival of the moribund state-owned enterprises.

He said: “Zoning aside, Alia is still the real deal for Benue State. 

“He has really redefined governance and the people are already enjoying the fruits.”
