Benue residents hail Tinubu’s infrastructure drive

Residents of Benue State have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for expanding connectivity through strategic road and bridge projects across the state.
This followed an inspection tour by the Presidential Media Team and Renewed Hope Ambassadors of key Federal and Benue State Governments infrastructure projects on Friday.
This was contained in a statement issued by Tunde Rahman, the Director of Media and Publicity, Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
The inspection covered the ongoing Buruku-Logo Bridge, Wurukum Overhead Bridge in Makurdi, the 22-kilometre Makurdi-Gboko Road, and other major infrastructure projects.
The delegation also visited the completed High-Level Roundabout Interchange in Makurdi and the Gboko Underpass and Interchange.
The Makurdi-Gboko Road forms part of Phase II of the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi Expressway, a strategic corridor linking North Central Nigeria with the South-East.
The road project is expected to be completed by December 2027.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ National Media Tour, comprising more than 40 editors and journalists, is designed to independently assess and document ongoing projects.
The delegation was led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Speaking during the inspection, Onanuga said the Buruku-Logo Bridge was one of five Federal Government bridges under construction in Benue.
He said the project demonstrated the administration’s commitment to investing borrowed funds in productive infrastructure.
According to him, the bridge will reconnect isolated communities, improve access to markets, and strengthen economic integration across Benue, Taraba and Adamawa States.
He said: “This bridge in particular is the fifth bridge the Federal Government is building in Benue State.
“I think as Nigerians you see that the government has been accused of so many things including taking loans.
“You can now see where the money is going.
“It is to develop infrastructure, to link people who have been forgotten before, to make sure that at least commerce flows freely.”
Onanuga said the projects were financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund and assured that adequate funding had been provided.
The team also inspected the ongoing 25.6km Captain Dan Road from Lubona Junction to the Tor Tiv Palace and the Food Basket Brewery Limited in Makurdi.
They further visited the Federal Government-funded rehabilitation of the Buruku-Gboko Water Treatment Plant at Ameladu Headworks.
A major highlight of the tour was the inspection of the 1,754m Buruku-Logo Bridge linking agrarian communities across the River Benue.
Residents described the bridge as a life-saving intervention that would end years of dangerous river crossings and boost economic activities.
They said the project would reduce travel time, improve access to markets and eliminate recurring boat accidents during the rainy season.
Many residents also pledged continued support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the visible impact of ongoing projects had renewed public confidence in the government.
Speaking with journalists, the Benue State Deputy Governor, Dr. Samuel Ode, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its investments in the state.
He said the people of Benue State were particularly excited by the ongoing Wurukum Overhead Bridge project.
