Children Abduction: Esinele old students thank Tinubu, call for sustained security

The Old Students’ Association of Community High School, Ahoro Esinele, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and all those who contributed to the successful rescue and release of abducted schoolchildren and their teachers, in Oyo State, calling for sustained collaboration among relevant stakeholders.

This is contained in a press release signed by Hafiz Taiwo Mustapha, on behalf of the group’s Chairman and sent to The Eagleonline, on Sunday.

The group thanked the President for the leadership and support he provided that facilitated the rescue operation, commending Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, for his commitment and concern throughout the period of the unfortunate incident.

Similarly, it appreciated Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Amotekun Corps, local vigilante groups, the Office of the National Security Adviser, and all security personnel who worked tirelessly to secure the freedom of the victims.

The release reads in part: “We are also grateful to the host communities, religious leaders, well-wishers, and all Nigerians who stood by the affected families through prayers, encouragement, and various forms of support.

“We rejoice with the Principal, teachers, students, and pupils who have regained their freedom and have now reunited with their families. Their safe return has brought immense relief, joy, and renewed hope to our communities.

“While celebrating this development, we remember with sadness those who lost their lives as a result of the attack. We extend our deepest condolences to their families and pray that Almighty God grants them the strength to bear the painful loss.

“For the record, Mr. Joel Adesiyan lost his life at the scene of the attack, while Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Mr. John Olaleye later died in captivity. We also honour the security personnel who paid the supreme sacrifice in the course of the rescue operations”.

While praying that Almighty God grants eternal rest to the departed souls and reward all those who contributed to the successful release of the victims, the body called for sustained collaboration among government, security agencies, community leaders, and residents to strengthen security and prevent similar incidents in the future.

It restated its appreciation to all who played one role or another in restoring freedom, hope and peace to the affected families and communities.

The Eagleonline reports that suspected terrorists on May 15, 2026, stormed Ahoro Esinele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State.

In the attacks, 46 victims, including schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted while 39 victims regained their freedom on Friday, July 10, 2026.
