Ebonyi Police Announce Movement Ban Ahead Of Saturday Election

Police in Ebonyi State have announced they’re restricting movement across the state on Saturday during Local Government elections.

Security will be posted at polling stations and key locations to keep the peace.

The movement ban runs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on election day, but certain people can move around freely election officials, accredited journalists, election observers, emergency workers and health staff.

They’ll need to carry valid ID and official credentials to get through security checkpoints.

The police commissioner confirmed they’re working with other security agencies to maintain order across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas.

She warned political figures and their followers against making inflammatory or provocative statements that could damage the election process.

Anyone who breaks this rule will face serious consequences, she said.

Voters are being urged to stay peaceful, follow instructions from security personnel and steer clear of violence or any behavior that could disrupt voting.

Police say they’re ready to provide full security before, during and after the election to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The public can report anything suspicious or security problems by calling the police command’s emergency lines.
