Eid-ul-Mawlid: Oborevwori urges Muslims to uphold peace, unity

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged Muslim faithful to emulate the exemplary life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly his virtues of peace, unity and love.
Oborevwori made the call in a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, on Tuesday in Asaba to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
The governor congratulated Muslims in Delta and across Nigeria and urged them to use the occasion to reflect on the life, teachings and virtues of Prophet Muhammad.
He said the values of compassion, humility, peaceful coexistence, sacrifice, tolerance and service to humanity, associated with the Prophet’s teachings, remained relevant to Nigeria’s quest for peace, unity and sustainable development.
Oborevwori called on Muslims to use the celebration to strengthen their commitment to peaceful coexistence, love for one another and the advancement of the common good.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive society where citizens, irrespective of their religious, ethnic or political affiliations, could live and pursue their legitimate aspirations in peace and dignity.
The governor urged the Muslim community to continue to support the state government’s efforts towards building a peaceful, prosperous and united Delta.
He also prayed for continued peace, stability and progress in the state and Nigeria.
Oborevwori wished Muslim faithful a joyous and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
