Gombe hands over sites for Emir’s Palace, Central Mosque remodelling

The Gombe State Government has officially signed the contract agreement and formalised the handover of sites for the remodelling and upgrading of the Gombe Emir’s Palace and the Gombe Central Mosque.

The project was formally awarded to Datum Construction Nigeria Limited.

The projects, being executed through the Joint Projects Development and Essential Social Services Agency (JPDA), are expected to be completed within six months.

Speaking during the site handover ceremony in Gombe on Thursday, the Director-General of JPDA, Builder Mahmood Yusuf, PhD, charged the contractor to execute the projects strictly in accordance with the specifications contained in the contract documents.

Yusuf warned that the agency would not tolerate any compromise in the quality or standard of work, stressing that the projects would be closely monitored to ensure compliance with approved specifications.

According to him, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya places high priority on the welfare and dignity of traditional institutions, which informed the administration’s interventions in the renovation and upgrading of palaces across the state.

He disclosed that the agency had completed the remodelling of more than 50 district head palaces across Gombe State, as well as the remodelling of the Yamaltu Emir’s Palace in Dadinkowa, Gona Emir’s Palace in Akko Local Government Area and Funakaye Emir’s Palace in Funakaye Local Government Area.

Yusuf added that the secretariat of the Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs was also nearing completion.

He described the Gombe Emir’s Palace as an important symbol of the state’s cultural heritage, saying it deserved to be preserved and maintained for present and future generations.

The JPDA boss said the intervention was part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen traditional institutions and preserve important cultural landmarks across Gombe.

Representing Datum Construction Nigeria Limited at the ceremony were Engineer Ibrahim Najjar and Emmanuel John, while the project consultants, Multi Systems Consultants, were represented by Mansur Kurfi Ahmadu, FNIA, and Architect Abubakar Ahmed Batagarawa.

The JPDA was represented by Yusuf and Builder Mohamed Danbaba, while representatives of the Gombe Emir’s Palace also attended the ceremony.

The formal handover marks the commencement of construction activities on the two projects, with the contractor expected to deliver them within the stipulated six-month period.
