Captain Smart, aspiring NDC Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, has made a dramatic pledge to invest $250 million in developing the constituency, backing the promise with an extraordinary declaration.
“I will invest $250 million in Gomoa West to develop the constituency, and if I fail to fulfil any of my promises to the people, may the gods of the land come together and kill me,” he said.
The pledge is the latest in a string of bold campaign moves from the broadcaster-turned-politician, who resigned from his role as host of Onua Maakye earlier this month to fully pursue the Gomoa West parliamentary seat.
He has previously vowed to turn the constituency into “a construction site” and has made a series of high-profile community appearances, including commissioning a borehole project in Gomoa Ndeum.
His latest statement is likely to fuel further debate online, given his history of dramatic, headline-grabbing declarations as he intensifies his campaign ahead of the NDC’s parliamentary primaries.
