Kebbi Governor Creates New District and Appoints Traditional Rulers

Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris approved creation of Buma District comprising eight village areas in Dandi Local Government Area. Alhaji Salisu Hakimi was appointed as District Head.
The district, carved out of Dolekaina District, comprises Tunga Rafi, Gamana, Tudunsan, Gillare, Bump Town, Goraro, Bukki and Alfarma Kwara village areas.
The governor also approved appointment of Nasiru Umar Maizabo as Village Head of Marafan Garin Haruna in Tiggi District, Augie LGA.
The approvals were made as part of efforts to strengthen traditional administration and improve grassroots governance.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs stated the appointments were made in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law 2008, particularly Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which confer powers relating to district creation and appointment of district heads.
The commissioner urged newly appointed traditional rulers to uphold discipline, honesty, transparency and dedication in discharging their responsibilities, assuring them of the governor’s and ministry’s support and cooperation.
