LG Poll: APC sure of winning 13 Ebonyi councils, 171 councillorship seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi has expressed confidence of winning the chairmanship positions in the state’s 13 local government councils and all 171 councillorship seats in the Aug. 22 Local Government Area (LGA) elections.
The party made the assertion during its local government election campaign flag-off in Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area.
Gov. Francis Nwifuru, represented by his Deputy, Patricia Obila, hailed the commencement of the campaign and urged the electorate to vote for APC candidates.
Nwifuru also presented the party’s flag to the APC chairmanship candidate for Ezza South Local Government Area, Mr Chinedu Mkpuma.
The governor called for peaceful campaigns, massive grassroots mobilisation and increased collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to secure victory across the state’s 13 local government areas and 171 wards.
“I know we are ready to win at all levels because Ebonyi is APC. We must embark on issue-based campaigns and avoid actions capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the election,” he said.
Chief Kenneth Ugbala, former Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government (SSG), said the APC had no opposition in the forthcoming local government election and remained well-positioned ahead of the next general elections.
Ugbala, who is currently the South-East representative on the Governing Board of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), urged party faithful to be law-abiding during and after the local government election.
The APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, thanked the people of Ezza South for their steadfast support for the party, maintaining that the APC continued to enjoy widespread acceptance across the local government area.
“There is no opposition here. We have come to appreciate the people of Ezza South for standing firmly with the APC. We know that whenever Ezza South endorses a candidate, victory is assured,” Okoro-Emegha said.
