After over two decades of running with acting officers, the Oyo State Government has appointed substantive principal officers for The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde approved the appointments on Tuesday, naming Dr Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as Rector alongside three other principal officers, in a move the government said will restore stability to the 56-year-old institution.

Other principal officers appointed include Dr Olajide Taiwo Sherifat, who was appointed as the Registrar; Mr Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole, who was named the Bursar; and Mr Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola, who was appointed as the Librarian of the institution.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, disclosed this in his office after receiving the approval letter from the governor.

Olayiwola explained that the appointment of the four principal officers followed due process, noting that the exercise commenced with a public advertisement in national newspapers and was followed by a series of interviews conducted by the Governing Council of the institution, chaired by Professor Lanre Nassar.

It should be noted that the institution’s principal officers have been serving in acting capacities since 2005.

While congratulating the newly appointed officers, Olayiwola stated that their appointments take effect from July 31, 2026, and are for a single tenure of five years.
